Random Safety Tip

Bleeding and Wounds Childcare Tips

To control bleeding, use the following methods in order, until bleeding stops:

1. Direct Pressure

2. Pressure Bandage

3. Elevation

4. Pressure Points

Do not remove a penetrating object.

For minor wounds (not usually seen by a physician):

Wash hands with a vigorous scrubbing action using soap and water. Use a sterile gauze pad or a clean cloth with soap and water to gently wash dirt away from the wound edges. Foreign bodies (e.g. dirt, gravel) should be removed to avoid infection.

For head Wounds:

Expect a lot of bleeding because of the many blood vessels.

For amputations:

Control bleeding, recover the amputated body part then care for the amputated body part by following these procedures:

Rinse the part with clean water to remove any contamination: do not scrub.

Wrap the amputated part with dry sterile gauze or other available dry, clean cloth. Do not wrap in moistened or damp material.

Place the wrapped amputated part in a plastic bag or waterproof container (e.g. cup or class).

Place the bag or container with the wrapped amputated part on a bed of ice, but do not bury it.

What Do We Teach?

Baby Be Safe teaches Pediatric CPR (Infant/Child), Adult CPR with AED, and First Aid. Other segments of our classes may include childproofing, emergency prevention, and safety tips. Our current CPR-First Aid class list has six popular CPR-First Aid classes for individuals and organizations. Our CPR-First Aid class summary reviews the class.

Where Are The Classes?

We teach mostly in New York City (all 5 boroughs), Long Island, and New Jersey. We teach group classes at community locations, for people that want to learn CPR-First Aid with a larger group at an easily-accessible New York location. We also teach private classes at homes and offices, for individuals and organizations to arrange their own CPR-First Aid class.

What Is Our Class Price?

The prices of our New York group classes (held at community locations) vary between $65-$75 depending on the type of class (cert or non cert) and the volume of people. The prices of our New York and New Jersey home and office classes are $85 per person for 4 or more people or $90 per person/$270 for three or less people.

What Is The Class Size?

We do not set a maximum number of students in our classes, our student to instructor ratio is 6:1 and the minimum number of students in a private class is usually 3.

How Do You Get Certified?

To become certified in CPR and/or First Aid, you can attend one of our 4-6 hour certification classes (usually organized on the premise of the participant's workplace) and successfully complete a short exam at the end of the class.

Do Certifications Expire?

Most CPR-First Aid certifications are valid two years. If you don't know which certification to choose, contact us and we can help you find the best CPR-First Aid class for you, including recertification classes (shorter) if you are currently CPR-First Aid certified.

Bring Your Kids To Class?

Yes - though it's not encouraged - if childcare is not an option you can bring along your baby or child.

Will You Get A Book?

All our courses are supplemented with a book and other handouts for the participants to keep and reference. Our CPR-First Aid class summary summarizes the class.

Spanish Speaking Classes?

If one or all the participants in the class are not fluid in English and prefer to speak in Spanish we can provide books, videos, and instructors to accommodate you. Please recommend Baby Be Safe to anybody looking for a Spanish-speaking CPR-First Aid class.

What Is Our Class Policy?

Our policy is to satisfy all of our customers. To ensure that we can ensure customer satisfaction when scheduling classes on the dates requested, we require that all class cancellations be done within 72 hours of the scheduled class. Deposits will be returned or applied toward a future class only if the class is canceled within 72 hours. Our clients will be held responsible for the number of participants that was confirmed to participate in the class. Baby Be Safe must be notified of any changes in the number of participants within 48 hours of the class. Otherwise you will be billed for the number confirmed. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Is There A New CPR Method?

Yes, CNN did an excellent video on it:
